You may not have heard about S&P Direct before, but we’ve been around for rather a long time. In fact, we’ve been providing customers around the UK home insurance for over 25 years! So why were we so exclusive?

Back in 1983, in the City of London, we pioneered General Insurance sold through intermediaries such as Insurance Brokers and Independent Financial Advisers (IFA’s). We’ve been serving this market since with our unique approach to insurance. Selling through financial advisors is demanding – they have to be sure that the product and service they recommend is of the highest quality, or the loyal customer they have been servicing for years, will go elsewhere.

Even though this had been our exclusive route to market, many new S&P Direct customers have purchased our policies through the recommendation of another policyholder. We wanted to provide a direct route for these customers to purchase our insurance – a route that’s as simple and customer friendly as purchasing through IFA’s. Therefore S&P Direct was launched with our philosophy of simplicity and service that has stood the test of time for over a quarter of a century.
